Birmingham is the second most important city in the British Isles. It is situated close to London. It is a city of historical importance. Being one of the oldest city of England, Birmingham rose to importance in the mid of 18th century. It developed as an important industrial center. Small arms industry was the major industry. But, during the Second World War, Birmingham suffered heavy losses under the attack of the German Nazis. After the war, the city was rebuilt and developed as a city of political and educational importance. It was developed as an additional business center along with London. With time, living in London became exuberant. The rent of a decent house or flat became almost unaffordable to the common man. This propped Birmingham as the hot spot for service centers and provide affordable houses and flats to people in England.
