Possibly dating back to Roman times, Coombe was listed in the Domesday Book as having 3 manors. The survival of the club is down to the effort put in by its long term members, both financially and by working. In 1994, the club secured its future with the purchase of a 125 year lease. The tenure is now safe until 2119, and the clubhouse was redeveloped in 2002/3 in time for the centenary.
