Christianity is a virtue that everyone who observes the writings of the Bible should acknowledge. Richard Overton became a Christian but had no orientation to a specific church. His urge of reading the Bible and doing what it advocates for, grew daily. He was inspired to analyze the inner meanings of what the Bible says and translate it to the people of God.
He continued serving God and found a church where he was dedicated to. The church was called the General Baptism church. It had different teachings from other churches and they contradicted in many things. The general church said that when the life of a human being is put to an end by God, his soul and body die but on the judgment day, he will resurrect.
The Presbyterian Church did not agree with Richard and had their understanding. This led to division of churches and even competition over resources. Overton could write and he wrote many pamphlets that condemned other churches that they should have prophecy in them to know what God wants from them.
According to Overton, the churches tended to take God for granted as they even disobeyed his teaching about offerings. Tithe offering is supposed to focus on the things God has put you through and therefore you thank him for His mercy. Whatever is made from the offering should be used to serve the Lord and not pay officials as other churches do.
The arguments of the pamphleteer were laid against him and he was harassed by the community. This was religious rivalry. They wanted him jailed and fined for not respecting religions of other people. He tried defending himself but the case was too heavy for him and he was arrested and jailed.
God continued giving him strength to overcome the challenges in life. He took his time while in prison to write more pamphlets to inspire people. He indulged in politics to prove to people how the government was corrupt. He argued the corruption is the greatest enemy of the development of a nation. People will continue to get oppressed by the corrupt government if they do not stand up and revolt.
Overton faced many challenges while in prison and this motivated him further to write more books to the community. He overcame the charges laid against him in court and was released. As a free man, he met friends who were also hard working and wanted the best for the citizens of the country. They heard that there was a general public meeting and they headed to the place. They attended the meeting well but along the way, there was a misunderstanding. Richard could not withstand it and he rose to oppose the discrimination against some classes of people.
This led to Richard Overton forming a group and writing another pamphlet which was contrary to what the government was saying. On the release of his book, he was looked for all over the region to come and defend his book and withdraw it afterwards. Richard was presented before the panel but he denied having owned the book or having access to it. He was arrested again to wait for trail. The court agreed to release him and he flew to England and updated his book. His life history is not known from that time.
