Sky Atlantic To Launch Game Of Thrones In April

Sky Atlantic the new TV channel from Sky is going to air Game of Thrones the HBO program in the UK, and by many sources it is not going to be shown much after its US release date of the 17th of April.

The eagerly awaited show based on George RR Martins ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series of books has been described as ‘the sopranos in middle earth’ and has a flavour which is sure to be very reminiscent of HBO’s style. The books are much darker than traditional fantasy and the directors of the series have promised a gritty show full of treachery and sex.

Casting has found some notable names with Sean Bean playing the lead role of Ned Stark (an embattled Nobleman), with Mark Addy as King Robert, Leana Headey as his Queen, with Charles Dance and Peter Dinklage in central roles. Also many exceptional up and coming British thespians have been cast list with Harry Lloyd and Kit Harrington notable. Also Alfie Allen (Lilly’s younger brother) appears and we believe relative debutant Emilia Clarke will steal many scenes in the series.

Fan interest in the project has been intense with a number of fansites covering the creation, casting, and shooting of the entire first series, which was filmed on location in Scotland, Malta, Ireland and Morocco. The Novels author George RR Martin has been fully behind the series, immersed in the production and scripted one of the 10 episodes in the first series.

The deal to acquire the show was struck by Sky in July last year when Sky acquired the rights to show all of HBO’s programming in the UK. Sky launched its new channel Sky Atlantic as a vehicle for its extensive HBO catalogue at the beginning of February this year.

Game of Thrones is a fantasy series made by HBO and will be showing on Sky Atalkantic in the UK. It will be starring Peter Dinklage amongst others.
