After more than a year in development, Bookmarking Demon 4.1 has finally been released. The creator of Bookmarking Demon, Edwin Brian has given the software a complete overhaul and released essentially a brand new social bookmarking tool. Bookmarking Demon has a nice new user interface and some essential features which make bookmarking sites easy and painless.
For those who are not familiar with it, Bookmarking Demon is a software that automates creating accounts and submitting pages to social bookmarking sites. It supports twenty different major bookmarking sites including delicious.com, mister-wong.com, and furl.net. It can also submit your pages to Scuttle, Scuttle Plus, and Pligg sites which are typically smaller type sites.
There are quite a few benefits from using a tool like Bookmarking Demon:
Laser targeted backlinks – Bookmarking Demon allows you to submit tags for each site, and each tag creates its own page on the social bookmarking site. So to calculate the number of backlinks you will be receiving, just multiple the number of tags by the number of sites you submit.
Quickly index your sites – By using the new pinging feature of Bookmarking Demon 4, it tells the web spiders to check out your recently bookmarked sites and consequently gets your sites and pages indexed faster.
Increased search engine rankings – Bookmarking Demon 4 supports twenty major social bookmarking sites, and the majority of them contain do-follow links. This means any link juice these sites carry will be passed on to your site. For example, Mister-Wong.com has a Page Rank of 7, and a do-follow link from them carries a lot of weight. The more high quality backlinks you have to your site, the higher your site will rank in the search engines.
When you first open Bookmarking Demon 4.1, you’ll right away notice the brand new user interface. Everything is more friendly looking and more functional than the previous version. There is also now a Beginner mode that hides a lot of the more advanced features in the interface which makes it better suited for new users. More advanced users will want to switch to expert mode to gain access to all the functionality that Bookmarking Demon has to offer.
There is a handy new syntax that is introduced by Bookmarking Demon 4.1 which will help you avoid getting flagged for having duplicate content. Now, in your descriptions you can write something like: “Cooking steak is challenging ” When Bookmarking Demon sees this syntax in a site description or title, it will randomly pick one of the words from the choices when bookmarking to a site.
My favorite feature so far are the rss feeds. In the preferences, you can now add rss feeds from your favorite sites (like engadget or reddit) and Bookmarking Demon 4 will automatically submit items from your feeds along with your site. This lets you “hide” the site you are promoting and lessens the chances of you getting flagged by the bookmarking site for being a self promoter.
Another feature that I really like is the pinging function. New to Bookmarking Demon 4, after you’ve bookmarked your site, you can ping each of the social bookmarking sites and let the search engines know that there’s newly updated content to be found. Instead of waiting several days for the search engines to find your new links, pinging your site tells them to come right away. This allows your sites to get indexed extremely fast.
Bookmarking Demon 4.1 is a great improvement over the previous version and a must have tool for any link building efforts. By using it on a regular basis, your sites will increase their search engine rankings for keywords that you are specifically targeting. Of course, you could do the same thing manually, but isn’t your time worth money? Why not let Bookmarking Demon do all the hard work for you.
