Have you ever actually thought about what is slowing down your computer? Well I’ll let you in on a little secret – it has to do with your operating system and how it runs. As much as your computers operating system tires to be faster it really just doesn’t get the job done. What happens is that your comptuer will start to slow down within time. Why? Well, one of the biggest things is that after using your computer for a few months junk start to build up on it.

By junk I mean useless files that simply just don’t get deleted. One of the best ways to make your computer faster is to simply remove some of this junk and then your computer will run faster again. The more junk that you have on your computer, the slower it will perform. So what’s the best way to remove this junk? Simple regular maintenance.

One of the best places to start doing some regular maintenance on your slow computer is to start with your hard drive. Your hard drive is the central storage place for all of your files and keeping it in good working order will make sure that your computer will be running efficiently. Also, by keeping your hard drive in a good healthy state will prevent a hard drive failure which is the loss of all of your data.

Click Start, and go to My Computer (for those you that are using Vista just click on Computer icon). Now right click on you local drive (the C:) and click on Properties. Now, in the Properties window, click the Tools tab and double click on the Check Now button. Once yourin the Check Disk window, check off “Automatically Fix File System Errors” and also check off “Scan For And Attempt To Recover For Bad Sectors”. Click start and chances are that it will say that you need to perform a restart. Just restart your computer and when you come back it will launch the program.

What this program is really doing is it is looking at the different parts of your hard drive to see which parts have problems like bad clusters or bad sectors. Then what it does is it will try and fix these problems before they grow into larger problems that might endanger the hard drive. Most of these problems arise from common things like not turning off your computer properly or even your computer freezing. I suggest doing this about once a month to get the most out of your hard drive and also to make your slow computer faster.

How Cleaning Up Your Temporary Folder Can Make Your Computer Faster

Why is your computer slow? Well the answer to that question is beyond the scope of this text but I will tell you that it has to do with your computer building up junk in many different areas in time. The more of these areas that you clean up the faster your computer will be – it’s that simple. Take a look at registry cleaners – they are designed to clean up all of the junk and inefficiencies that build up in your registry to make it faster. The only problem with registry cleaners is that they focus on one area of your computer which will only give you so much of an advantage while there are many different areas of your computer that need to be cleaned. This is why using registry cleaners really aren’t a complete solution to making your computer faster – they only clean one small area while there are many different areas that need to be either cleaned or tuned for performance.

Your computer uses it’s RAM as a temporary working place. When some of these files are in RAM they also need a temporary working place of their own and they will use a folder on your hard drive called the temporary folder (or a Temp folder for short). When window’s is done working with these files in your temp folder it deletes them and everything is fine and dandy. The problem arises when you kill a program or when it freezes or hangs. What happens to the files in that folder is that they were never actually removed and after a while of this happening your Temp folder can build up a lot of files that are just slowing your computer down. Here’s a simple procedure to remove them:

If you are using Windows XP, close all running files and programs and then click Start, click on Run and type %Temp% in the box and hit enter. Now you’re going to get a window that will show you the contents of the Temp folder. Just delete everything that you can in that folder. If for some reason it says that you cannot delete a certain file, just skip it and move onto the next one.

For those of you using Windows Vista, close all running programs and files and click Start, type Run in the start menu search box. When the Run window comes up type %Temp% and hit enter. Now delete everything that you see in that folder. If there are some files that you cannot delete, then just ignore them and move onto the next one.

So what are benefits of deleting as many files as you can in the Temp folder? Well for starters, you will have more space on your hard drive. You will also speed up your computer because having these files on your computer can actually cause it to have some internal errors which will obviously slow your computer down.

Should You Design Your Website?

Surfing the Internet is a fun experience in boosting your creativity because there are so many websites with fantastic designs. Checking these sites out could be enough in inspiring you to make your own. If you have the creativity, you can probably start your own website by yourself. However, making a website isn’t a walk in the park and while there are workarounds like the use of a site builder or 3rd party web design kit, you might end up asking yourself if professional web designers take these workarounds.

The answer is no because they have good enough knowledge in HTML and other web development languages which is needed to bring any mockup design to live. Making a website design mockup can be difficult already if you take the screen size compatibilities into the picture. Making the website friendly for all the browsers and optimized enough to load without stressing out the bandwidth can be other hurdles to deal with.

Knowing all that is to keep in mind when designing a website, the question is then whether it should be left to a professional to do or if you are capable of doing it on your own. The professional web designer is the best choice, simply because they start from scratch and build the website starting from there. On top of that there are other advantages of letting a professional web designer create your website.

For starters you will be able to determine what you exactly want on your website and the web designer will do what they can to incorporate all of that. Most web designers also are very creative and place value on quality of their work, which means that your expectations will most likely be met or surpassed.

Another advantage is that web designers are capable of completing the job quicker than you would be able to. This is because they have experience with creating websites and by hiring someone who knows what they are doing you will be able to spend your valuable time doing other important jobs, such as marketing or adding web content to the site. This way the project will be completed quickly since everyone is doing something they are good at.

Having a visually appealing website is important, but so is user friendliness in regards to navigation. The website also has to stay with a chosen theme that is relevant to the content. It is best if the website is also modern and contains Web 2.0 elements. In order to get all this done you will have to work together with your web designer and do a lot of brainstorming, therefore the professional hired should be willing to do this to ensure the quality.

Once the design is finished, you get to enjoy a fully-polished website and all that you lose is just a fixed sum of money that you can get back by adding ads to your new site. Everything else is savings including time and possibly maintenance too as good professionals offer free maintenance for a limited time to ensure that the site runs smoothly.

As far as quality and having your website completed in a short amount of time go, if you check them out and choose a reputable professional web designer you can feel confident that all will go well and hassle free.
